Are you looking for the best lacrosse helmets of 2017? If you are you came to the right place.
How To Choose Your Helmet
Getting the proper size is the single most important thing when purchasing your headgear. Here’s a video that explains the process:
So now that you know how to fit your helmet, let’s look at my top picks.
Cascade R Matte
Cascade is the best manufacturer of lacrosse helmets and their Matte is their premiere product. If you are a competitive lacrosse player this is a product you must consider – if you can afford it. It will cost over $300. There are cheaper options on this list if that is too high. However, this is a superior product and features:
- Very advanced SupereMono impact system that protects your head against viscous hits
- 3 adjustable jaw pads so you can customize fit
- R Series face-mask that gives you the widest field of vision possible
- Extremely durable and made with the latest safety and performance technologies
Also, this is the official helmet of Major League Lacrosse and is approved by NOCSAE (the most trusted opinion on safety equipment). Lastly, the Matte comes with a full 1 year warranty too. You know this piece of gear will last a whole season and probably more.
STX Stallion 600
The STX Stallion 600 is another high quality piece of equipment and is more affordable compared to the Matte. One of my favorite things about this helmet is the EVA foam that makes this product very comfortable. Additionally, it comes with:
- Adjustable air liner so you can fit it exactly to your head
- Made with very strong materials
- TPU cushioning system that absorbs contact hits and reduces likelihood of injury
Do I think this is the very best available? No, I don’t. However, at around $220 the STX Stallion 600 is a very dependable and durable product. You won’t mind having this protecting your skull.
If the Matte is too expensive and you still want Cascade quality, you should consider the CPX-R. This piece of equipment is worn by elite players at the highest levels – high school, college and professional. This helmet, with it’s R Series shell and Seven Technology, protects against all kinds of impact hits to the front of the head. Other awesome features include:
- Strategically placed vents to cool your head down and prevent over heating
- Disperses energy to minimize G-force effects
- Adjustable so you can get a nice fit
Some people complain lacrosse helmets are very uncomfortable and painful. That is not the case with the CPX-R. It has Triple layer memory foam that makes wearing a very pleasant experience. Not bad for a product that costs around $200.
The last product on the list is the CPV-R and is another helmet from Cascade; this is the cheapest option on the list and will only cost $139. If you are on a budget and still want good, comfortable protection, you should consider this piece of equipment. You’ll like the fact it comes with:
- All the safety aspects you would expect with a Cascade product
- Gen 3 EPP Liner for extra security and added comfort
- Can easily be adjusted on the fly
Like the Matte, it comes with a full 1 year warranty and it meets NOCSAE safety standards. This is a helmet that offers maximum protection at a low price.
Protect Your Head!!
Brain injuries are no joke and you should take every precaution imaginable to protect yourself from them. Selecting a high quality and comfortable helmet is very important. Without one your game can suffer from a small field of vision and you can be distracted by unnecessary pains – this will put you in danger. The products on this list are the best of the best and I know you will love playing with them.
