9 Best Hockey Helmets 2017-2018 Reviews

ccm fitlite 80 Hockey is coming back and if you plan on getting on the ice, you are probably looking for the best hockey helmets for the 2017-2018 season.

Playing hockey puts you at risk for concussions and other head injuries so you want to make sure you pick a good product. I’ll show you what to consider when making your selection plus my top picks.

Ready to keep your head safe?

What To Look for In A Perfect Helmet

There are many components to hockey helmets and to ensure you are getting a good one,you should consider:

  • What materials make up the helmet
  • Is it HECC and CSA approved
  • Proper size
  • Quality foam
  • Comfortable

A typical helmet is made up of a shell, inner padding and other parts to adjust and keep everything together. You want the best materials for each section to allow for maximum protection. If a company cheaps out and you wear their helmets, your risk of injury is going to increase.

The next thing you want to consider is whether or not the helmet is approved by certain organizations like the ones mentioned above. HECC is the Hockey Equipment Certification Council and CSA is the Canadian Standards Association. Both these groups devote their time making sure the equipment you or your child use are safe and meet certain standards. Their opinion can be trusted and any product endorsed by them is well made.

After that, make sure you know the size of your head and choose a helmet that will fit snugly without being too tight. If your helmet is loose it can slip over your eyes and take away your field of vision; that can lead to some huge collisions. Also, if it’s too big it might shift over or fly off after a big hit. If that happens your head is vulnerable and it may smack into the ice or boards unprotected. Obviously you don’t want the helmet to constrict you either.

Another important thing is to make sure the inner foam is quality and made from absorbing materials.  There are many different foams that can limit your risk of concussions and you should select a helmet that has quality ones. Most well known companies like Bauer, Easton, Warrior, and CCM use the best foam in their equipment.

Lastly, you need a helmet that’s comfortable to wear. You don’t want to be distracted from what’s happening on the ice because of equipment that is causing you a lot of pain or is too bulky. Your head has to be on a swivel when you’re out there and that’ll only happen with the right products.

All the helmets on this list meet these criteria. They are made from the best materials on earth, approved by the right organizations, have multiple sizes to fit your head snugly, come from well known companies that use the most absorbing inner foams, and all are ultra comfortable.

Let’s take a look at the helmets now.
